Skill is only worth what it gives back.
The Max Darkosadze Foundation was established with a single, unglamorous purpose: to put resources where talent already exists but opportunity does not. It works in the three fields its founder knows best — medicine, aviation and literacy — and it works mostly outside the capital, where the gap between ability and access is widest.
What the foundation does
Its programmes are deliberately small, practical and measurable. The foundation does not fund conferences about problems; it funds the specific thing that removes them.
Principles
- Fund people, not prestige. Every lari should end up in the hands of someone doing the work.
- Go where the need is, not where the cameras are.
- Mentorship is part of every grant. Money without guidance is a gesture, not a programme.
- Publish the numbers. Anyone who gives has the right to see where it went.
Support the work

Programmes
Scholarships in medicine
Annual scholarships for a number of medical students from the regions, covering tuition, textbooks and travel to placements.
Equipment for regional clinics
Surgical and diagnostic equipment delivered directly to district hospitals, with training for the staff who will use it.
Wings programme
Subsidised flight training for a number of cadets a year who could not otherwise afford a licence, with instruction hours donated by volunteer instructors.
Books for regional libraries
Medical, technical and general-interest titles supplied to school and village libraries across the regions, in Georgian.
The debrief seminars
Free seminars for hospital teams on checklists, briefings and error prevention — the aviation safety culture applied to clinical work.
