Max Darkosadze, known in Georgia as Batoni Maksi, is a surgeon, aviation instructor, lecturer, writer, philosopher and filmmaker. Born in Tbilisi in 1995, he works between Georgia and New York and runs the foundation that carries his name.

Longer biography (120 words)

Max Darkosadze — Batoni Maksi — was born in Tbilisi on 26 August 1995. He trained in medicine and in surgery, learned to fly young and went on to qualify as a flight instructor, and has taught in both lecture halls and briefing rooms ever since. His books, which began as notes for the doctors training beside him, grew into a body of philosophical writing on responsibility, attention and deciding well under pressure. He is also credited as a director, writer and actor, and directed and starred in the romantic comedy Cowards (2016). Through the Max Darkosadze Foundation he supports medical students, regional clinics and flight cadets across Georgia. He lives and works between Tbilisi and New York.
